Raising kids is hard. Raising kids well is even harder. How do you discipline a child when hitting isn’t an option? How do you correct a child without yelling? How do you love a child who seems determined to push you away?
I started this blog as a place to think about and think through tough parenting issues like these. Who am I? I’m a mother of two, 7 and 9, one boy, one girl. I’m a Baha’i, guided by the belief that children should be regarded “as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.”
Baha’u'llah told us that as parents, our most important job is the spiritual education of our children. I feel the weight of the responsibility and strive to fulfill it to the best of my ability. Here’s a website that explains just how weighty a responsibility it is.
Maybe you’ve run up against the same kinds of issues with your kids. In that case, this blog is also a place of support and consultation. I’d love to hear what you have to say.
Parenting is a tough gig. And tough gigs are easier to handle when you know you’re not doing it alone.
